On Friday nights the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park has free events from 6-8:45pm. Tonight Kellie and I decided to skip the gym (I know, twist our arms!) and went to the museum. They have an exhibit right now of the Olmec heads from Mexico so the theme of the evening was sort of Latin America indigenous culture (sort of). They had an art project area set up for children where the kids decorated a strip of paper with jewels, feathers, pipecleaners, and then made them into headdresses. Annika got really into decorating with the jewels!
There was also live music from several different groups and dancers. One group was drummers with dancers (wearing headdresses), later there was a capoeira group who performed, and the last band played salsa music. Annika found a couple dance partners among the group of toddlers who were getting into the music.

Now if only we can get Annika to start wearing hats or at least the headdress she made.....
Were any other people you knew there?
