April 24-Camping at Pinnacles

We went to Pinnacles with Jason and Kellie. It was nice weather the whole time (it didn't start sprinkling until we were driving home). We even dyed Easter eggs and had a little egg hunt on Easter morning with Annika. The park is beautiful and has some great trails and talus caves.

Here is the hobo campfire and hobo tea that Jason made for us the first night:

May 29-Berry Picking at Swanton Berry Farm

We went strawberry picking with Kellie, Christine. And Paul. The farm was right on the ocean with gorgeous views and there were lots of berries. Both Annika and Paul were really good at picking berries!

April 16-Kirby Cove

Kellie and Jason made camping reservations at Kirby Cove, which is at the base of the Golden Gate bridge. It was a surprisingly warm day, so Annika and I met them there to spend the afternoon at the beach. They said the foghorns were really loud at night, but otherwise a great camping site.

Annika Dancing with Anpanman

Aunt Yuki gave Annika a video of Anpanman and Annika loves to dance with the characters. She tries to imitate them--it's very fun to watch.

Easter Egg Hunt at Crab Cove

Kellie and I took Annika to the Alameda Easter Egg Scramble today. They had photos with the Easter bunny (Annika was too scared, though), crafts, games and a hunt.

Lake Merritt Gardens

Mom, Tom, Yuki, Annika and I went to the botanical gardens at Lake Merritt. In the Japanese garden there was a heron that didn't seem to be afraid of people.

March 24-Rainy Day at IKEA

The first week mom was in town it rained non-stop and we all started going stir crazy. To get out of the house we went to IKEA and let Annika try out all the couches and play with all of their drawers. She also got a frozen yogurt at the end.

Some Videos of Annika Walking with Homer

Annika loves taking Homer for walks and I thinks it's because she gets to boss him around. In the second video you can see Anni doing her little jumps.

Walking the Dog

Mom surprised us with a visit this weekend because her friend Jan offered her a ride down here. Annika got to hold the leash for Homer and also played with all the dogs at the small dog park. The red sweater is one that Aunt Bev made.

March 12-Running is my High 5K

Last weekend I did a 5K at Lake Merritt and Kellie and Annika were there to cheer me on. It was a gorgeous day and I was so happy that I was able to run the whole route.

Friday Night at the de Young Museum

On Friday nights the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park has free events from 6-8:45pm. Tonight Kellie and I decided to skip the gym (I know, twist our arms!) and went to the museum. They have an exhibit right now of the Olmec heads from Mexico so the theme of the evening was sort of Latin America indigenous culture (sort of). They had an art project area set up for children where the kids decorated a strip of paper with jewels, feathers, pipecleaners, and then made them into headdresses. Annika got really into decorating with the jewels!

There was also live music from several different groups and dancers. One group was drummers with dancers (wearing headdresses), later there was a capoeira group who performed, and the last band played salsa music. Annika found a couple dance partners among the group of toddlers who were getting into the music.

Playdate

Annika has a friend named Paul. They are very close in age (about a two week difference) and they like playing together. I work with Paul's mom, Christine, and we do Weight Watchers and the gym together. Today we took Paul and Annika to the park for a little picnic. Both Paul and Annika like the sandbox and they did a pretty good job of sharing.

This time Annika used her fingers more than the brush!
