Annika is 4 Weeks Old!

I can't believe it's already been 4 weeks! Here is a photo of Annika in her sling. The sling is a lifesaver! Annika is happiest when she is being held, either by me or Julian, and does not like to put down, even to sleep. The sling lets me hold her and still use two hands. The other day I had a doctor's appointment and still couldn't drive myself, so I took Annika with me on the bus in the sling. It was very convenient and she slept the whole time.

My Brest Friend

At the La Leche League meeting, one of the leaders worked with me on the latch and positioning of Annika. She also suggested I try using the My Brest Friend pillow to assist with positioning. It was so much easier and more comfortable, so I ended up buying one. Hopefully now things will start to get better!

Going to La Leche League

I have been having so much trouble with breastfeeding. It has been 27 days since Annika was born and I still can't breastfeed without pain. I am going to a La Leche League meeting today in the hopes that someone there can offer some good advice and encouragement. On Monday I plan to see another lactation consultant (I've been to six appointments since Annika was born). Here is a photo Julian took of us when I wasn't crying and swearing in pain.



I love this photo because it reminds me of why I want to breastfeed and why I am putting myself through so much pain. Annika looks so cozy and comforted in this photo and I have never seen her look like this while she is drinking from a bottle.

Hand Knits from Grandma

Grandma Kari knit two beautiful hats and a pair of socks for Annika. The socks fit perfectly (and have lovely tatted lace on them) and the hat is adorable.

Fat Feet No More!

My whole body swelled up hugely while I was pregnant, but it was most obvious in my feet.



It took more than a week after delivering Annika for the swelling to go down, but now I have ankles again!
